The goal of the Raytheon-Olin SCOPE team was to identify pairs of communication and radar waveforms that could be superimposed through a single nonlinear amplifier while still fulfilling primary communications and radar functions. The team investigated candidate performance using hardware experimentation and industry-standard simulation. The results of this study begin to define the conditions for successful simultaneous communications and radar transmission through a single non-linear amplifier.
We have derived compact algebraic bounds for the limit behavior of the magnetic coupling coefficient, κ, for axially aligned multilayer coils. These bounds are validated experimentally. We have also found an expression based on the coil geometry that captures its long-range magnetic behavior. In particular, the limit behavior of the magnetic coupling coefficient is the same for any pair of axially aligned multilayer coils when the separation distance is normalized by this expression.
The Vision Robotics SCOPE team will conceptualize, design, and prototype an automated fruit picking end effector for use by the tree fruit industry. The design will include considerations for low production costs, a life time on the order of millions of cycles, and a picking time of less than a second.
