Description

Creative writing booklet centered around the theme of breaking through the shields we put up and the bubbles enclosing us. The booklet contains three writing pieces, and each piece is matched with a writing prompt, included at the end of the story, and some related recipes. The recipes either involve a food item that is depicted within the story or are closely related in another aspect.

Description

The final deliverables for this AHS Capstone project are a final script and a recording of the play reading of the script. To create these deliverables, I had to learn about the process of playwriting, write my own play, and organize and direct a staged reading. My mentor for this project was Melinda Lopez, a theater professor at Wellesley, actor, and playwright.

Description

Compilation of six short stories ranging from just over 500 words, to just under 8,000 and an author’s note reflecting on some of my sources of inspiration. Stories and author’s note are reproduced below, in their recommended reading order. (Though there is no connection between any of the stories.) The titles of my six stories are: The Stars, They Spin, Reverberations, Requiem, Bushido, Wish Ravine, and Videography.

Dreaming, Scheming, Unbeseeming: Verses, Voltas, and Diversions

Description

I wrote the first rough sketches of each of these roughly fourteen-and-a-half-and-a-half poems over a span ranging from the fall of 2008 (my first semester at Olin) to the spring of 2012 (my final semester at Olin). I wrote them for fun; to see if I could; to fill writing portfolios; and in one case, for a girl I had a crush on at the time. (It didn’t work out; c’est la vie.) In my last semester, I come back to each of these poems to review, revise, and rewrite, to polish and edit and make them as good as it was in my power to make them at the time. With the help of Professor Alison Hickey at Wellesley College, I have sought to unite this final (insofar as any collection that will doubtless undergo countless future revisions can be said to be final) chapbook around themes of dreams and doubts, love and sorrow, good and evil, story and adventure.
